Documentary film RENÉ won European Film Academy Award

We are very happy to announce that the EUROPEAN FILM ACADEMY DOCUMENTARY 2008 - Prix ARTE award goes to the documentary film RENÉ by Helena Trestikova.
René was the first Czech documentary film receiving the MEDIA Development support in 2004.
The jury statement mentions the following:
“This is a film which tells a powerful story - filmed over 20 years - about an extraordinary character on the edge of society. It is a longitual documentary of outstanding quality. The jury found its examination of the relationship between subject and filmmaker fascinating and thought-provoking.”
Citizen Havel by Pavel Koutecký and Miroslav Janek was the second Czech documentary film to compete for the award.
It is a great day for the Czech documentary film and congratulations to both projects!
