About MEDIA Programme

MEDIA Programme belongs to a number of European Union support programmes. It aims to support the development, distribution, and promotion of European audiovisual works.

History

MEDIA Programme was established in 1991 as MEDIA I and from 1996 – 2000 was implemented as MEDIA II. The current programme, MEDIA Plus, came into force by a Council Decision in 2001 and will run until 2006. Following the changing needs of the audiovisual market, a new generation of MEDIA programmes – MEDIA 2007 – will be created to run from 2007 to 2013. The budget approved for MEDIA 2007 is EUR 755 million.
