Project
Ex Oriente Film – Promotional Programme for Central and European Documentary 2006 is a year-long comprehensive scheme consisting of several interconnected projects:
East European Forum
The forum is a regular meeting of documentary filmmakers from Eastern Europe with EU commissioning editors from public service television broadcasters, where directors and independent producers offer their themes and ideas for implementation and funding.
East Silver DocMarket
The only market focusing on the yearly production of films from Central and Eastern Europe. Its main goal is to monitor new documentary production and to create a wellarranged catalogue and an open film library, available to the broadest range of film professionals – representatives of TV stations, significant world film festivals, as well as film producers and co-producers. East Silver serves primarily to sell and distribute documentary films.
East European Docs Umbrella
stand of the East European documentary film at one of the world’s largest documentary markets, Sunny Side of the Doc. The stand is intended to support East European producers and to promote national film centers in Eastern Europe. The participants can attend a number of support presentations and individual talks with leading film professionals who will help them understand the market and recommend contacts of purchasers, acquisitors and distributors for their documentary films.
Documentary Films from Central and Eastern Europe panel at the Karlovy Vary IFF
A presentation of the upcoming film documentaries, which should draw attention to the promising new projects from Central and Eastern Europe and support their distribution and PR.
Documentary Internet
A bilingual Internet portal about East European documentary film. Besides the largest East European database “Documentary map of Europe” (4 000 links) mapping film grants, schools, festivals, organizations and producers in Eastern Europe, it also offers a regular information service and comprehensive services for independent documentary film producers (festival, grant, market application deadlines).
Library of East European documentaries
A collection of approximately 300 Czech and East European films, accessible to journalists, distributors, producers, festival staff and other people interested in East European documentary film.
