A story of Alžběta – an au pair from Eastern Europe in contemporary London. Alžběta wants happiness – a man, and with him, an illusion of good life. However, she is only running away from herself and can only grow up after she betrays her elder sister.

Protector
Radio reporter Emil and theatre actress Hana are married. Emil loves Hana, and Hana does not love Emil. The beginning of the war and the German occupation turn their life upside down. Hana is suddenly confronted with her Jewish origin, her promising career falls apart, and finding herself to be a social outcast, she returns to her husband reluctantly. In an attempt to protect his wife, Emil starts to work on German propaganda despite his political opinions. The contract with the devil takes its toll; Emil loses himself, becoming a drunkard and womaniser. However, fate sets a trap for him. Escaping from a lover in a tight situation, he steals somebody’s bicycle and rides. But radios are already broadcasting an alert: An attempt to assassinate Reichsprotektor Reinhard Heydrich was carried out in Prague, and one of the criminals escaped on a ladies’ bicycle...

Ferda and Robin grow up in a severe and cold family environment. Each of the boys fights his own unequal war with his father. So they decide to unite to make their revolt more efficient.

Producers: Pavel Strnad, Petr Oukropec, Kateřina Černá, Milan Kuchynka. I Negativ works mainly with young filmmakers; it was involved in the debuts of many young Czech directors and scriptwriters. Since its establishment in 1995, it has brought ten feature films into distribution. The most successful ones include Return of the Idiot (1999), Year of the Devil (2002) and Something Like Happiness (2005).
